Legal notice

Last updated: September 9, 2026

This notice explains, in plain terms, the basis on which E2Dev ("we", "us", "the operator") makes Signetline available to you ("you", "the user"), what we can and cannot be held responsible for, and what is expected of you in return. It applies to the Signetline website, the web application, the Android application, the desktop application, and the hardware token firmware and flashing tool (together, "the Service"). By creating a handle, logging in, or otherwise using the Service, you accept this notice in full. If you do not accept it, do not use the Service.

01Nature of the Service

Signetline is a communications tool. It provides end-to-end encryption of messages using a physical hardware token that performs all cryptographic operations; the operator's server relays only ciphertext it cannot decrypt. The Service is a conduit for content chosen, written, and sent entirely by users. The operator does not create, select, review, endorse, or exercise editorial control over any message, attachment, contact, or handle. The operator has no technical ability to read message content, and accordingly has no ability to monitor, filter, or moderate it before, during, or after transmission.

Nothing in the Service constitutes advice of any kind (legal, financial, security, or otherwise), and nothing about the Service's design should be read as a representation that it is fit for any specific regulatory, compliance, or safety-critical purpose.

02No responsibility for user conduct or content

You are solely and entirely responsible for the content of every message you send, for every use you make of the Service, and for the consequences of that use. The operator:

  • does not monitor, inspect, retain in readable form, or have the technical ability to access the plaintext content of any message sent through the Service;
  • takes no responsibility, and accepts no liability of any kind, for the content, legality, accuracy, or consequences of anything transmitted by users of the Service;
  • takes no responsibility for how any user, contact, or third party uses information, files, or messages received through the Service;
  • is not a party to, and has no visibility into, any communication, agreement, transaction, or dispute between users;
  • does not vet, verify, or vouch for the identity, intentions, age, or legal capacity of any user or handle.

If you use the Service to send, request, or facilitate anything unlawful, infringing, harmful, or otherwise improper, responsibility for that act and its consequences rests exclusively with you and with any other user directly involved — not with the operator.

03Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to do, request, or facilitate any of the following, and understand that the operator's inability to inspect message content does not lessen your obligation not to do so:

  • anything that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation;
  • harassment, threats, stalking, or incitement of violence against any person or group;
  • distribution of malware, exploit code, or material intended to compromise a device, account, or network without authorization;
  • child sexual abuse material or any content exploiting or endangering minors;
  • fraud, phishing, impersonation of another person or entity, or any deceptive practice;
  • infringement of another party's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights;
  • facilitation of terrorism, organized crime, or trafficking of any kind;
  • attempting to reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, the server, or another user's token or account;
  • any use prohibited under Section 8 (Export control and sanctions) below.

Because the operator cannot read message content, enforcement of this section relies primarily on metadata-level signals (e.g. abuse reports, account-level patterns, legal process) rather than content review. The operator may suspend or terminate accounts reasonably suspected of violating this section, without being able to confirm the content of any specific message.

04Service provided "as is"

The Service, including the hardware token firmware, the web application, the Android application, the desktop application, and the flashing tool, is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

No representation is made that the Service is appropriate or lawful to use in every jurisdiction. Where the use, import, or export of encryption technology is regulated or restricted where you are located, you are responsible for determining whether your use of the Service is lawful and for complying with any such regulation.

05Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will the operator, its officers, employees, contributors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with: (a) your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service; (b) any content transmitted, received, lost, or corrupted through the Service; (c) any conduct of any user or third party on or through the Service; (d) unauthorized access to, alteration of, or loss of your token, account, or data; or (e) any other matter relating to the Service — regardless of the legal theory asserted, and even if the operator has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot be excluded as a matter of law, the operator's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (i) the amount, if any, you paid to the operator for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, and (ii) €50.

06Security and loss of the token

Signetline's security model depends on a physical hardware token that you alone control. The operator has no copy of, and no way to recover, the private key material held on your token. If your token is lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise compromised, the operator cannot decrypt, recover, transfer, or restore access to any message history bound to that token's identity, and accepts no liability for any resulting loss of access, loss of data, or unauthorized use by a third party who gains possession of the token. Safeguarding the physical token, and any backup device registered to your account, is solely your responsibility.

07Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operator and its officers, employees, contributors, and affiliates from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use or misuse of the Service; content you send, receive, or store through the Service; your violation of this notice or of applicable law; or your violation of any right of a third party.

08Export control and sanctions

The Service includes encryption technology that may be subject to export control, import, or use restrictions under the laws of your country and of other applicable jurisdictions. You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country or region subject to a comprehensive embargo, and that you are not on any restricted-party or denied-persons list maintained by an applicable government. You are solely responsible for complying with all such laws.

09Age and eligibility

The Service is not directed at, and must not be used by, anyone below the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction, or the minimum age required to consent to use of an encrypted communications service under applicable law, whichever is higher, without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian where required. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

10Suspension and termination

The operator may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, at its discretion and without prior notice, where there is a reasonable basis to believe this notice, the acceptable use terms above, or applicable law has been violated, or where continued access poses a security or legal risk to the operator, other users, or third parties. Because message content cannot be inspected, such decisions may be based on account-level or metadata-level signals rather than content review.

11Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or to applicable legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.

12Governing law and jurisdiction

This notice is governed by, and is to be construed in accordance with, the laws of Bulgaria, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this notice or the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Bulgaria, except where applicable law grants you a right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence that cannot be waived by agreement.

13Severability and contact

If any provision of this notice is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. For questions about this notice, contact shristov@e2dev.eu.
